Flight affected for four days due to air pollution 

Kathmandu. Due to inclement weather, flights to the interior of Tribhuvan International Airport have been affected to some extent in the last four days.

According to the airport office, domestic flights have also been affected due to bad weather. General Manager of the airport Pratap Babu Tiwari said that some domestic flights were affected. A small number of flights from the airport to various destinations have been canceled.

Even though night-flying flights have been operated by mechanical means, flights to destinations including Pokhara, Janakpur, and Simra have been affected.

The flight at the international airport, which was canceled due to bad weather a week ago, has been affected again since Tuesday, April 8. Domestic flights have been affected due to low visibility due to thick smoke in the sky across the country including Kathmandu Valley.

According to the International Airport, only 95 out of 112 flights of various airlines were operated on Wednesday. Twelve flights were canceled and five flights were merged. 9824 passengers have traveled by air and departure from these flights. Seven flights of Buddha Air, four flights of Yeti Airlines, and one flight of Sita Air have been canceled.

Last Monday, a maximum of 30 flights were canceled. Of the 122 flights scheduled for that day, only 91 have been flown. According to the airport office, 17 flights of Buddha Air, nine of Yeti Airlines, two of Tara Air, and one each of Shree Airlines and Sita Air have been canceled. Despite the bad weather for three days, the sky in Kathmandu is relatively open today.

The General Manager of the airport, Tiwari, said that the visibility was good and regular flights were being operated as there was no thick blanket. According to him, regular flights are being operated to destinations other than Pokhara Airport today.

Chance of light rain

According to the Meteorological Department, Department of Water and Meteorology, there is a partial effect of local and western winds in the country as well as the lower atmospheric low-pressure system formed south of Nepal. Currently, there is partial cloud cover in the hilly areas of the country.

Also, in some parts of the country, the situation is similar. The weather will be partly to moderately cloudy in the hilly areas of the country and partly cloudy in the rest of the country. There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning in the afternoon in a few places in the hilly terrain of Province 1 and in one or two places in the hilly terrain of the rest of the province. According to the Division, the minimum temperature in Kathmandu today is 13 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 28.8 degrees Celsius.
