TIA no more transit point for foreigners
Kathmandu: Nepal government on Tuesday restricted the foreign nationals from using the Kathmandu-based Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) as a transit point to fly to other destinations.
According to the Department of Immigration, the new rule will come into effect from Wednesday onwards which explicitly enforces the foreign nationals to abstain from using the TIA as an exit point to reach other countries.
Authorities said such stringent travel ban orders were issued in the wake of the increasing spree of the new variant of Covid-19 across the country which has caused many local administrations to impose prohibitory orders in their areas.
However, for foreigners traveling to and from TIA as the final destination for departure or arrival has not been banned said the officials.
