Quarantine mandatory for people coming from abroad
Kathmandu. Provision has been made for mandatory 10 days hotel quarantine for passengers coming from abroad (Nepali / foreigner) except in case of emergency.
The provision has been made in the context of increasing corona infection in different countries. According to the Ministry of Tourism, a 72-hour negative report and proof of booking a hotel for 10 days will be required upon arrival in Nepal.
The cost of the hotel quarantine of the passengers coming from the flight will be borne by the passengers themselves. After 10 days of hotel quarantine, a person with corona symptoms will have to undergo a PCR test and others will be allowed to go home.
If the PCR test is positive, they will have to stay in an isolation center, hospital or hotel for 10 days. However, according to one’s religion, customs and traditions, a person coming to Nepal from abroad to attend a relative’s funeral will be allowed to stay at home / destination for at least 10 days on mandatory home quarantine on the recommendation of the local bodies.
In the case of attendants, who is chronically ill, physically disabled and accompanied by a patient, will be allowed to stay in the home quarantine for 10 days on the basis of documents confirming the incident from the hospital and the recommendation of the local level bodies.
Senior citizens above 75 years of age, minors under five years of age and parents of minors will be allowed to stay in the home quarantine for at least 10 days on the recommendation of the local bodies. Officials, employees and their family members of the diplomatic mission will be allowed to go on the recommendation of the mission.
Health workers working abroad, Nepalis who have completed or are studying health related issues who are working hard to control Covid-19, will be allowed to go to the destination specified on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health for 10 days quarantine.
Similarly, hotels in Thamel, Sundhara, Gongbu and Kalanki areas will not have quarantine. As these areas are densely populated, the government has decided not to list the hotels in those areas as quarantine hotels to control corona infection. The listing of hotel quarantine will be done by the Nepal Tourism Board on the recommendation of the Department of Tourism.
Five days for Nepalis coming from the Gulf and Malaysia
However, Nepali workers returning from foreign employment in the Gulf countries and Malaysia will have to stay in the hotel quarantine for only five days. The government has relaxed the permit for two-way flights a week to India and one-way flights to China and Qatar each week.
According to the criteria, passengers coming from foreign employment will have to stay in the hotel quarantine for five days. After the PCR test is negative in the hotel quarantine, they will be allowed to stay in the home quarantine for another 10 days and go home/destination.
