12,000 entered and 23,000 left within lockdown through TIA
Kathmandu. Amid the lockdown, 12,000 Nepalis and foreigners entered the country through the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) office in May.
According to the May data released by the Immigration Department, 12,400 people have entered Nepal. Of them, 1,468 are foreign nationals and 10,932 are Nepali nationals.
Last May, the number of people leaving Nepal was double that of those entering the country. In that period, 23135 people departed from TIA.
Those going out through TIA include 9977 foreigners and 13158 Nepalis. Fewer foreigners have entered Nepal in May than in other months.
After the Corona epidemic and the long shutdown, most tourists entered Nepal in April. According to the department, 22,450 foreigners from 144 countries entered Nepal in the month of April 2021.
Similarly, 51,775 Nepalis had gone abroad through TIA in April last year.
