Kathmandu: The Department of Immigration (DoI) is to resume visa services for tourists with effect from Friday (today) according to a press release issued on Thursday.
Earlier, the tourist visa services were suspended following the spreading spree of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, barring those emergency cases.
DoI decided to resume the tourist visa services after the Nepal government also decided to allow operation of both domestic and international flights as cases of Covid-19 infection subsided in the country.
The foreigners with valid visas up to April 28 and who need to leave Nepal before July 8 will be exempted from visa charges said the DoI in the press release.
Similarly, those tourists who would like to extend their stay in Nepal will be granted a visa and will be exempted from the late fine on producing the application at the DoI. However, the tourists who visit DoI office after July 8, will be made to pay both visa fees and late fines, said the DoI statement.
