Tourism operators ask government to issue travel advisory

Kathmandu: Nepal’s tourism operators in a collective voice have asked the government to issue a travel advisory to open the country to tourists in the event of subsiding cases of Covid-19 in the country.

The tourism sector operators in a meeting held on Monday in the capital to express their solidarity to revive the crippled tourism sector rallied to prevail upon the government to pave the way for tourism revival after the tourism industry remained hard hit by the adverse impacts of Covid-19.

In a press statement issued on Monday, the tourism entrepreneurs unanimously opined that it was time to proceed with the tourism activities as coronavirus intensity has subsided drastically.

”The Himalayan nation is now a safe destination for tourism as most of the people in the tourism destinations have already been inoculated against the Covid-19.” the press stateement states.

They also said that arrival visa for tourists should be issued now to expedite the arrival of tourists and PCR report on the part of tourists showing negative report should be immediately allowed to proceed to their respective destinations without any hassle.

They also asked the government to publicize that Nepal is a safe destination for tourism on a global scale.

The representatives of the umbrella organizations of the tourism sector emphasized the urgency of the prompt decisions on the part of the government as Nepal’s tourism activity peaks from September to November.
