Kiranties celebrate Udhauli festival

Kathmandu: The Kiranties of Nepal are celebrating their national festival known as “Udhauli” amidst various functions across the nation and inside the Kathmandu valley Sunday.
The Kiranities of Nepal include communities such as Khambu, Limbu, Yakkha, Sunuwar, Thami, Surel, Jirel, Hayu, Chhantayal, and Dhimal, etc. They are the indigenous people of Nepal who are mongoloid in physical features.
On Sunday, these Kiranties celebrated this festival (Udhauli) at Lalitpur, Hattiban based worship place known as Kirant Manghim.
They usually engage in collective worship of their ancestors and nature for providing a suitable environment for them. After the end of ancestral worship, they dance and make merry in groups at public places.
Tourists also like to watch the festival of Udhauli in Kathmandu valley. The mode of celebration of this festival shows that the Kiranties are very rich in culture and wealth as they dance decorated with expensive pieces of jewelry.
The government has declared a holiday inside Kathmandu valley and outside to enable these communities to celebrate this festival.
