Ramchedevi Community Homestay opened in Galem

Ramchedevi Sillo Community Homestay opened in Galem is named after the famous Ramchedevi Than. The Ramchedevi temple is a two-hour uphill climb from the village.

Homestay can be reached via Kalche Falls, Bhanjyang Danda, and Damah Dhunga in half an hour. A test flight of paragliding was also conducted on Damah Dhunga.

Visitors to the homestay are greeted with garlands or bouquets, while most of the homestay operators are women.

A seven-member management committee has also been formed to manage the community homestay. The committee has Puja Gurung as chairman, Nanumaya Gurung as vice-chairman, Chet Bahadur Gurung as secretary, Captain Indra Bahadur Gurung as treasurer, and members Sushma Gurung, Prakash Poudel, and Suryakant Poudel as members.

The homestay, which is currently starting from ten houses, has the capacity to accommodate 40 guests, said Chairperson Puja. It is said that there is a plan to gradually extend the homestay starting from the middle toll of Galem to all the tolls.

As most of the houses are vacant due to foreign employment and relocation, there is a plan to make a homestay by including those houses, said Puja. To hold meetings, conferences, and seminars, society is here. The Shitala Aama Samaj Ghar here has a capacity of up to 60 people.

Located 7 km north-south of Fedikhola, the village has 80 households with 60 percent Brahmins, 30 percent Gurungs, and 10 percent Dalits.

From Fedikhola, you can hike uphill for three hours to reach Galem. Located at an altitude of 1,600 meters, this homestay offers fully organic food.
