Gurung and Tamang clinch first rock climbing contest title
Bimalnagar: Dipan Gurung and Panchmaya Tamang have won the men’s and women’s titles respectively in the first rock climbing competition held at Bandipur Rural Municipality-4, Bimalnagar, Tanahu.
Gurung won the title by crossing the distance in four minutes and two seconds in the men’s event while Tamang crossed the distance in five minutes and 53 seconds in the women’s event.
Sulabh Rai and Tenzing Rai stood second and third respectively in the men’s category while Rusa Pradhan and Sewa Tsuchid (Japan) came second and third respectively in the women’s category. A total of 38 people competed in the race for rock climbing.
The prizes were distributed by Rajiv Gurung, Youth and Sports Minister of Gandaki province.
The Gandaki Alpine Club had organized a rock climbing competition from December 24 to 26 with the support of Bandipur Village Municipality and Nepal Tourism Board. The rock climbing competition was facilitated by 15 international mountain guides and two aspirant guides.
