Mangal Lama dreams to cycle upper GHT route

Kathmandu:  Mangal Lama, who has been involved in the cycle trade for the last 15 years has developed an avid obsession along with a coveted dream to create a record of becoming the first man to cycle the entire upper route of the Great Himalayan Trail (GHT).

The 37-year-old youth Lama’s cherished dream keeps him awake at night also. However, Lama is waiting for some external support and sponsors to begin his journey.

Lama’s gleaming eyes show that he is still optimistic about his future plan to go on a long drive to cover this long Himalayan trail by using his cycle.

“I want to be the first cyclist to travel through the Great Himalayan Trail,” says Lama. If we look at history, we can see that some of the travelers have bicycled the lower route of the trail.

However, no one has ever completed The Great Himalayan Trail which is the higher route as high as 6,100 meters.

Lama continues to retain his hope that one day his most coveted record-breaking dream will be materialized.
