Second Liglige Cycle Race kicks off from March 18
Ligligkot: Encouraged by the success of the first Liglige bicycle race, Liglige Village Sports has announced that the second edition of the second race will be held on March 18. The online registration has already started.
Organized at the historic Ligligkot in Palungtar Municipality of Gorkha, the cycle race aims to support tourism through adventure sports, said Sports Chairman Sanjeev Rana.
According to history, it was a customary democratic tradition for the Magar Ghale people in Liglig Kot to become the king (Wang) for one year by winning the race of Ligligkot.
Later, Drabya Shah, the Thakuri prince of Lamjung, usurped the power here. His son Prithvinarayan Shah then laid the foundation of modern Nepal.
“We are excited about the success of the first edition held last year,” said Rana. We are hopeful that all the players and the community will support us this year as well. ”
Although it was organized on the occasion of Democracy Day last year, the cycle race is being shifted to March 18 this year due to the third wave of the Covid-19 epidemic, added Rana.
