Russia-Ukrain Crisis to discourage more European tourists to visit Nepal
Kathmandu: The media reports say that the escalating Russia-Ukraine political crisis is likely to negatively impact the arrival of European tourists and mountaineers in Nepal.
As most of the tourism operators in Pokhara and Kathmandu start to prepare for the climbing seasons this spring, more Asian tourists are expected to visit Nepal as compared to the dwindling number of European tourists this spring in the aftermath of Russian -Ukrain tension.
The tour operators said the tourists who were supposed to arrive in Nepal have already canceled their bookings. Kul Bahadur Gurung, the general secretary of the Nepal Mountaineering Association said that the Asian tourists who have canceled their visits to Europe and Ukraine are more likely to divert their attention to mountaineering and trekking in Nepal.
