East tourism mart held in Dharan to promote tourism
Dharan: The three-day East Tourism Mart, organized to promote domestic and cross-border tourism, continues in Dharan. Inaugurating the mart organized by Nepal Tourism Board and Dharan Sub-metropolis on Friday, Chief Minister of Province No. 1 Rajendra Kumar Rai said that its promotion was necessary as tourism was the basis of economic development.
He said that there is ample potential for tourism in the number one state, adding that such marts would help in the promotion of domestic and cross-border tourism. Chief Minister Rai also informed that the state government was working in collaboration with various donors for the development of tourism infrastructure.
As the mart has been organized since 2018 BS with the support of the Dharan sub-metropolis, it is said that such tourism Mart 2022 is its third edition. Krishna Shah, a member of the Nepal Tourism Board, said that the board has organized various programs for the promotion of domestic tourism with limited resources.
The Western Tourism Mart has been organized by Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality in Nepalgunj on March 10, 11, and 12 and the Far West Travel Mart 2022 is being organized in Dhangadhi of Far Western Province on April 10, 11, and 12 in collaboration with Dhangadhi sub-metropolis.
The executive head of the tourism board, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi informed that the board is organizing a mart for the promotion of tourism in the interior and border areas to gradually bring the tourism impacted by Covid-19 back to normalcy.
According to the Board, Indian travel/tour businessmen from the border areas of India including Siliguri and Bihar are participating in the mart organized in Dharan.
