Nepal Tourism Board
Kathmandu: As the tourist arrivals in Nepal drastically increase in March, the Nepal Tourism Board Chief Executive Officer Dr. Dhananjay Regmi claims that Nepal’s tourism has recovered by 45%.

The tourism sector which has been ailing for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic has slowly started returning to normalcy with the increased arrival of foreign tourists.

According to NTB -CEO- over 15,013 tourists arrived from India only in March 2021.  Similarly, more tourists from Bangladesh entered Nepal as compared to the same period in the year 2019.

However, Regmi also divulged that Nepal has witnessed a sharp decline of 93 percent in tourists from China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, Myanmar, and Thailand which is yet to improve.

Likewise, there has been a decline of 44% in American tourists and a decline of 45% in European tourists following the pandemic created due to Covid-19.

Regmi on the other hand pointed out that optimism can still be felt among the tour operators since as many as 100 people are receiving travel permits on a daily basis for trekking.

He also hinted that more Indian tourists can be invited to Nepal if they are given good hospitality here in Nepal.
