Kathmandu: UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has declared Ghalegaon, a popular tourist village of Lamjung, a ‘happy village’.

Oli, who reached Ghalegaon in the northeast of the district, declared it a ‘happy Ghalegaon’. Ghalegaon has recently become synonymous with rural tourism.

The culture of the Gurung Ghales, the rural life and the view of the peaks seen from there are the major attractions. Ghalegaon, which was started two decades ago by launching homestays for rural tourism, now attracts up to 300 tourists daily.

UML Chairman Oli has declared the village as ‘Happy Ghalegaon’ under the leadership of Prem Ghale, Chairman of Khwalasothar Rural Municipality, who is also the Chairman of the Tourism Management Committee, Rural Tourism Ghalegaon.

It is said that the village has been declared a happy village as there are 125 households in Ghalegaon inhabited by Ghale, Gurung, and Dalit communities with an average annual income of Rs 500000 to 600000 and an average annual saving up Rs 100000 to 150,000 which are parameters of happiness.
