Tara Air crash: 14 bodies found
Kathmandu: The bodies of 14 people have been found at the crash site of Tara Air in Thasang Gaonpalika-2 Sansure of Mustang.
According to the District Administration Office, Mustang, security personnel and locals found the bodies of 14 people at the accident site. The Administrative Officer of the office, Devendra Raj Pandey, said that work was underway to identify the damaged bodies.
A team of army, police, and Sherpas, who arrived by helicopter, and a team of locals on foot have been collecting bodies and searching for the missing persons.
A team of about 100 security personnel on foot has reached the spot. Administrative Officer Pandey said that there was a problem in transporting additional security personnel by helicopter and bringing the collected bodies due to fog at the site at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters above sea level.
The Tara aircraft carrying 22 people, including three crew members, was found in an accident on Monday morning.
Preparations have been made to send more rescuers from the helicopter and bring the collected bodies as soon as the fog clears.
The ship was found wrecked on a hill at the foot of Manapathi Himal, which is about four hour’s walk from Kowang, the center of Thasang village.
