CAAN to permit two pilots on helicopter flight for VIPs
Kathmandu: Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) from nowards will allow two pilots on a helicopter during flight for very important persons (VIPs).
The CAAN’s meeting held on Sunday decided on this new provison of pilots for helicopters. The meeting also agreed on implementing an automated software application for assessing potential for flight safety and mitigating such risk prior to the operation of each helicopter flight.
The decision applies for domesic flights for VIPs said the CAAN authorities. Presently, there are at least 10 private and one government owned helicopter companies are operational in the country.
The meeting has also decided additionally to shift the Kathmandu airport based parking space for helicopters to outside of Kathmandu valley which is expected to reduce the parking load of the airport.
The helicopter companies will have to comply with the new CAAN decision with affect from June 21 while other airlines companies will abide by the same decision with effect from June 27.
