Of 53 airports only 33 operational

Kathmandu: Nepal has only 33 airports in operation though there are a total of 53 airports according to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Nepal’s government has been spending lavishly on the renovation and reconstruction of these airports annually but there has been very slow progress in the operational feasibility of some of these airports in the country.

The following is the list of currently operational airports in Nepal.

  4. Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhairahawa
  5. Biratnagar Airport
  6. Chandragadhi Airport

  10. Simara Airport
  11. Surkhet Airport
  12. Dhangadhi Airport
  13. Jomsom Airport
  14. Simikot Airport
  15. Tumlingtar Airport
