‘Icefall’ trek trail connects Myagdi to Mustang
Kathmandu: Infrastructure construction has started on the Dhaulagiri icefall trekking trail connecting Myagdi and Mustang.
The feasibility study was conducted for the first time in the year 2068 BS, and the construction of the trekking trail for tourists has been accelerated.
In the current financial year 2079/80 BS, the construction of the icefall trail has been started with the budget allocated by the Ministry of Tourism.
Under the Dhaulagiri Icefall trek, there is a very risky journey to Kokhebhir and Papidharmi hills. According to local residents, if the trek trail can be constructed in both these hills this year, the trail leading to Dhaulagiri base camp will increase the number of tourists.
Bhava Bahadur Bhandari, chairman of Raghuganga rural municipality, informed that a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared for the 122 km long icefall trail covering the base camp of Dhaulagiri Himal and the 51 km long Dhaulagiri century trail that will reach the base camp via Rikhar through Todke, Jhin Pakhapani, Kuinemangale.
He said that the DPR of a total of 173 kilometers of trek trail has been done in this area and according to this, continuous efforts have been made with the federal and state governments to build tourism infrastructure including trek trails.
It has been a decade since the government chose the Dhaulagiri Icefall trek trail as a new tourist destination. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation has chosen the trail from Ruise Danda to Dhaulagiri Icefall as a new and developed tourist destination.
Dozens of mountains in the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges can be closely observed on this trail, and the habitats of wild animals and birds such as Danfe, Munal, Kalij, Kasturi, Jharal, Naur, Ghoral, Thar, Ratuwa, and Himchituwa can be observed every time.
On this trail, along with the ice fall of the mountains, Kalibarah, Latibarah, Nili Barah, Seti Barah and Pahelibarah lake are more attractive to observe.
This trek connects Myagdi’s Piple, Bhagwati, Begkhola, Chimkhola, Kuinemangale, Doba and other places through the axis of high mountain hills and connects to Mustang Leyte.
