Spectacular trek to Makalu base camp
Trek to Makalu base camp in Nepal has been a spectacular experience for the trekkers. Until Eric Shipton first initiated the trek to this base camp, it was closed to the outside world till the 1950s.
This adventurous trek covers the Makalu Barun National Park too. Makalu Mountain being the fifth highest mountain in the world elevated at an altitude of 8463m has pyramid-shaped features from four sides.
It has been famous for keen trekkers as tea house treks though the simple type of accommodation is also available for the tourists en route. This trek comprises the Arun valley, a dense forest of rhododendron, an alpine forest, and Barun glaciers.
Trek to this base camp can also provide you the captivating natural panoramic glimpses of the highest snow-capped peaks of Mt Everest, Mt Lhotse, Mt Chamlang, Mt Kanchenjunga, Mt Baruntse, and several other mountain ranges.
The pristine wilderness of Makalu Barun National Park gives you a picture of vivid natural beauty blessed by nature here with a great variety of flora and fauna.
The trek is very challenging and also rewarding as you can cross four high passes on a single day including the Shipton L(Eric Shipton’s original expedition route).
Crossing these passes during the spring would be even more exciting and stunning. The monumental presence of Mt Makalu makes you feel an enchanting and magical moment in your life that you would not feel elsewhere.
The sight of incredible natural beauty can make you feel a new sense of happiness and blessedness for being here.
The trek begins with a flight to Tumlingtar and trekking towards Makalu base camp and finally concluding the trek by taking a flight back to Kathmandu from Tumlingtar.
The total fun of going on this trek may also be affected by the group you join or the trekking agency that you might choose.
