Taking tourists inside Bouddhanath without tickets to face action
Kathmandu: Action would be taken against tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs involved in entering tourists inside the Bouddhanath area without a ticket.
Bouddhanath Area Development Committee has warned of action against those tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs after it found that tourists entered this world heritage site without tickets in collusion with tourist guides and hotel entrepreneurs.
Executive Director of the Committee, Nayan Kumar Lama, told RSS that list of the hotels located from Chuchchepati to Jorpati is going to be prepared in the first phase of the action. The ticket counter of the Committee is open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
According to the Committee, tourists are found staying at hotels at the night and visiting the Bouddhanath area in the morning without tickets.
Tourists are found entering at Bouddhanath area without tickets in collusion with hotel entrepreneurs, tourist guides, and staff deputed at the ticket counter.
The Committee held a discussion with hotel entrepreneurs in this regard in the first phase. The Committee has determined Rs 100 per person as the entry fee for tourists from SAARC countries and Rs 400 per person for visitors from other countries except for SAARC. Thousands of tourists visit the Bouddhanath area every month (RSS).
