Overlooked Tourist Heritage of Far West
Despite being full of tourist heritages, the tourist activities in the far western districts have not been able to increase.
Although the number of tourists coming to Nepal via Kailali and Kanchanpur has increased, those tourists do not visit this province.
Looking at the statistics of the Immigration Office in Kailali and Kanchanpur, it seems that foreign tourists are increasing day by day, however, the tourist spots here are not among the choices of tourists who come to Nepal through India as a third country.
The number of tourists going to the Far West to visit Kathmandu, Pokhara, Rara, Manang, Mustang, and other places is increasing. According to the Immigration Office, despite the decrease in the number of tourists coming from third countries, the number of Indian tourists is around 3/400 per month.
Most of the tourists have left the far western tourist spots and went to Pokhara, Lumbini, and Kathmandu in the east. Experts here say that due to the lack of significant efforts for the promotion of tourist spots, Far West has not been chosen by foreign tourists.
They suggest that the provincial government should bring special programs for tourism promotion to maintain foreign tourists in the province. Leaflets, pamphlets, and various hoarding boards should be put up for the promotion of tourist spots in the province.
