7th Mountain festival to kick off in Pokhara

Kathmandu: Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is preparing to host an international mountain film festival on December 10 and 11 in Pokhara.

The 7th international mountain film festival coincides with international mountain day which falls on December 11 according to the NMA.

This day is observed each year on December 11. All preparations are underway said NMA officials. The festival will focus on the protection of the mountain ecosystem, biodiversity, natural resources, etc.

The stalls displaying products from the mountainous areas will also be showcased during the film festival and the festival will focus discussions on the future of mountain tourism in Nepal.

The film festival is also expected to bring in more tourists to the Pokhara region, while it will also garner the development and promotion of the mountain region in Nepal.

‘Women Move Mountain’, is the major theme of this film festival. The event will also boost the socio-economic status of the residents of the Himalayan regions.
