Preparation of international flight from Pokhara airport
Kathmandu: Buddha Air is preparing for its first international flight from Pokhara Regional International Airport.
Buddha Air is going to make its first international flight from Pokhara Regional International Airport, which is going to be operational from January 1. For this, the company has submitted an application for permission to the regulatory body Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).
“We have started preparations for the first international flight from Pokhara Airport, if everything goes well, the first international flight will be from Buddha Air”, said Dipendra Karn, information officer of Buddha Air.
From Pokhara Airport, Buddha Air has planned to fly to three destinations in India: Pokhara-Banaras-Pokhara, Pokhara-Delhi-Pokhara, and Pokhara-Dehradun-Pokhara.
According to Karn, international flights and landings will only be made from the east side of the airport, while flights and landings can be made from both sides of the runway on the domestic side.
Interest in international airlines
International airlines have started showing interest in flights from Pokhara Regional International Airport. CAAN spokesperson Jagannath Niraula said that Indian and Chinese airlines have shown interest in flying from the airport.
Buddha Air and Himalaya Airlines have already prepared to operate international flights from the airport. On the international side, Qatar’s Jazeera Airways has also expressed interest in flying from Pokhara Airport.
Eleven small and big planes can be parked at the airport. There are 48 daily domestic flights and six international flights.
