Pokhara to host street festival in New Year

Kaski. Preparations have been made for the 24th edition of the street festival at the lakeside of Pokhara, the main tourist destination of the country.

Restaurant and Bar Association Pokhara is going to hold a street festival to welcome the English New Year. The organizer believes in creating a unique identity in the promotion of tourism here

Naresh Bhattarai, chairman and coordinator of the festival, informed that the festival will be held in a three km area from Fishtail Gate on the lakeside of Pokhara through Khare to Jarawar from December until January 1, 2023, with the aim of promoting domestic and foreign tourists as an ‘English New Year destination’.

At the festival, there will be cultural programs, original costumes, national and international cuisines, double songs,  concerts, boat races, veteran tennis tournaments, ‘waiter races’, ‘tug of war’ and documentaries.

The organizers estimate that about four hundred thousand spectators will watch the festival. On the occasion of the festival, Hotel Association Pokhara will give a 20 percent discount on hotel rooms.

Similarly, with the help of the Nepal Tourism Board, the festival will be promoted in all seven provinces of the country.
