A journey from Switzerland to Nepal on foot

It is highly incredible that someone could dare to embark on a personal journey on foot from Switzerland to Nepal on foot.

This has become a fact when a Swiss citizen known by the name of Kellenberger Thomas recently arrived in Nepal on foot.

According to Kellenberger, he started his journey from Interlake in Switzerland on August 25, 2021, and it took around 15 months for him to reach Nepal and Asia via Croatia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Greece, and Turkey.

Kellenberger like the mythical Greek heroic character Aeneas has taken up an ambitious trek of 15,000 kilometers during which he expects to visit over 22 countries around the world.

So far he has already traveled across 17 countries on foot. He says he entered Nepal from Sunauli on November 7 and reached Pokhara via Butwal, Bardia National Park. He came from Pokhara to Kathmandu via Gorkha.

He has a very big cause behind his journey that keeps motivating him. That is his mother’s indelible memory associated with the charity. He claims that this personal journey of his is focused on ‘Walk for a Cause to collect financial funds for the charity organization ‘Phil Island Kids International Foundation’ which he founded.

He says he would stay for the next two weeks in Kathmandu during which he would meet with like-minded people associated with non-government organizations.

Then he plans to visit Jiri and mountainous regions, Biratnagar, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and finally return to the Philippines.

He has already walked, 200 kilometers so far and still has 4,800 kilometers to tread across the vast regions. For him walking is the best way to meditate and for dedicating to his mother’s memory for the cause of charity.
