Tourist attraction at Barah Lake
After the activity of the rural municipality, the activity of tourists has started to increase in Barah Lake of Baglung, which has been overshadowed due to a lack of publicity and infrastructure.
Located in Tamankhola Rural Municipality-2 Muthachaur, this lake is full of high mountains, a peaceful environment, and natural beauty. The lake is located at the head of Taman Khola at an altitude of 3000 meters above sea level.
The Barah Lake area, which was worshiped by the villagers until a few years ago, has recently become a center of tourist attraction. Domestic tourists have increased after Tamankholagaon Municipality increased publicity. Tamankhola Rural Municipality-2, Barah Talai village municipality in Muthachaur has started conservation and promotional activities too.
This year, the Gandaki provincial government has allocated Rs 8 million and the Tamankholagaon municipality has allocated Rs 800000 for the protection and promotion of Barah Lake, which also has religious significance, said Hirakumari Chantyal, the vice president of the rural municipality.
It is believed that one’s wishes will be fulfilled by worshiping at the Siddha Barah temple near the lake. Because of this, during Vaishakhe Purnima, devotees come from different places of Baglung as well as from Gulmi, Pyuthan, and Arghakhanchi districts to worship at this temple.
Majestic views of dozens of snow ranges such as Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchre, Annapurna, and others can also be seen from here.
