80% hotels booked for English New Year
Kathmandu: Next Sunday is the first day of the English New Year 2023. Domestic as well as foreign tourists have started to flock to tourist destinations to celebrate the New Year.
Especially hotels and resorts in tourist destinations like Pokhara, Chitwan, Bhairahawa, Dhulikhel, and Nagarkot are being booked in a hurry. The tourism industry affected by Corona is becoming active. Businessmen say that Christmas, English New Year, etc. have increased the number of domestic as well as foreign tourists.
In Pokhara, which is the choice of domestic tourists, 50 percent of hotel bookings have already been done for the New Year. Laxman Subedi, President of Hotel Association Pokhara, informed that there are domestic tourists and some Indian tourists in the booked hotels.
For the past few years, the last two days of the week (Friday and Saturday) are crowded with domestic tourists. He said that there is enthusiasm in hotel bookings as various programs are organized on the occasion of the English New Year.
The association has already sent a letter to all the hotels to give a 20 percent discount on hotel bookings in Pokhara for the new year, He said that after the corona epidemic, the ‘flow’ of hotel bookings has increased sharply this year compared to the previous year.
80% of the hotels in Chitwan and Sauraha are already booked for the New Year’s activities. Suman Ghimire, the outgoing president of the regional hotel association, Sauraha, says that despite the low number of advance bookings, all the hotels in Sauraha are full of tourists two days before the New Year.
