Court orders suspension of Annapurna cable car plan

Issuing an interim order, the apex body of the country directed the government as well as concerned stakeholders to suspend all works related to the Annapurna cable car plan until the next hearing is made.

The supreme court issued the order in response to a writ petition filed by advocate Padam Bahadur Shrestha who argued that the project based in Sikles of Kasi would go against the environmental law and damage the environmental balance of the Annapurna Conservation area.
