Bhairawa airport shut down for a month

Kathmandu: The Gautam Buddha International Airport, Bhairahwa (GBIA) which is the second international airport of Nepal has been shut down citing worse weather conditions.

The GBIA, has not been operated since December 21, 2023, though it started its operation in May 2022.

The regular flights halted citing the reasons related to low visibility caused by fog and bad weather. The flights of Jazeera Airways and Himalayan Airlines were shut down for the last one month.

However, there were rumors about air permit being reportedly disallowed by Indian government as this airport is located near Indian border.
