Experts: Non compliance of ICAO standards triggers air crash

Kathmandu: The increasing trend in air disaster in Nepal has been due to non compliance of standards set in by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) according to opinions expressed by aviation experts.

The experts opined that there is lack of skilled human resources (manpower) to ensure air safety in Nepal’s airspace which should be immediately fulfilled to avert such ill fated air disasters in near future.

It may recalled that the European Union (EU) has in the past been repeatedly cautioning Nepal about the lack of such skilled man power in air space which had forced EU to keep Nepal in the list of blacklist for unsafe airspace.

Former director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Sanjib Gautam, director general of the then Civil Aviation Department Nepal Birendra Bahadur Deuja, former engineer of Nepal Airlines Corporation Achyut Raj Pahadi pointed that in order to ensure the air safety in Nepal aeronautical experts should be inducted.
