Kathmandu:Branding and marketing initiatives have been started at the international level to attract foreign tourists to Palpa Tansen’s Rani Mahal, known as the Taj Mahal of Nepal to mark the occasion of lovers’ Valentine Day today.
Ranimahal (queen’s palace), which is considered as a symbol of love, has the potential to become an attractive tourist destination for foreign tourists, but it has not yet been publicized much outside the country.
Ranimahal is a historical palace located on the banks of the Kaligandaki River in Palpa’s Tansen Municipality-13 and Bagnaskali Rural Municipality of Palpa.
The foundation stone was laid in 1950 and in 1954, General Khadga Shamsher had an attractive palace built in the memory of his queen Tejkumari in the north direction of Kaligandaki river. That is why Ranimahal is considered an epitome of love.
The famous Taj Mahal in India had earned its reputation for being built in the memory of his queen by Shah Jaha and the same coincidence has been linked to construction of Rani Mahal in Tansen, Palpa by General Khadga Shamsher in the past.
So, there are high chances of this Queen Palace to be branded internationally. Rani Mahal’s historical, touristic and religious significance could not be publicized to the world as much as expected.
Tansen Municipality started an initiative by taking the occasion of Valentine’s Day on February 14 to market it internationally.
