Foreigners visiting national park increased
Kathmandu: As the risk of Corona epidemic has decreased, the number of foreign tourists visiting Chitwan National Park has increased.
Chitwan National Park is the main destination of the country for tourists who prefer to see rare wildlife like one-horned rhinoceros and spotted tiger.
Information officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari said that 191883 people visited the park till February end in the current financial year.
In the corresponding year in 2022, a total of 190,458 people visited the park. Tourism activity was almost zero when the Corona havoc increased.
The number of foreign tourists this year however has increased. Chitwan National Park Information Officer and Assistant Conservation Officer Ganesh Prasad Tiwari said that 32,000 foreign tourists from outside the SAARC countries have visited the park so far.
According to the statistics of the park office, around 1.5 million foreign tourists visit Chitwan Park every year. China has recently included Nepal in the list of countries that its citizens can visit, so tourism professionals are hopeful that the situation will improve in the coming days.
The park information revealed that over 60% tourists coming to visit the Chitwan National Park are Chinese. China is one of the reliable source of tourism if most of the Chinese tourists in future happen to visit Nepal and national parks to explore the hidden treasures of natural beauty and cultural legacy here.
