Tourism gets momentum in Rara
Kathmandu: Tourism in Rara area has got its momentum these days as arrival of tourists continues to increase in this beautiful tourist destinations in Karnali province.
Bishwa Babu Shrestha, Conservation Officer of Rara National Park Office, informed that since the tourist season has started, there has been an influx of tourists in the area.
Rara lake, one of the biggest as well as deepest fresh water in Nepal is located within the periphery of Rara National Park endowed with diverse flora and fauna and wild animals, which falls in Mugu district of Karnali province.
The fresh water of Rara lake changes its natural form to three forms in a day and is surrounded by captivating mountain ranges all around. Tourists in Rara can ride horses. The good time to visit Rara would through February, May, August and November.
How to reach Rara lake?
One of the best way to reach Rara lake is to take a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and take another flight from Nepalgunj to Rara airport and walk one hour to Rara. However, tourists can also hire vehicles or motorcycle to drive to Rara in nearly two-three days.
Accommodation
The Rara lake has few hotels and inns to accommodate them and if the tourists are overcrowded, they are given options to stay in tents. The roods such as red marsi rice, split black lentil, bean lentil, millet, buckwheat and wheat bread are available for the tourists.
The lake is located at a height of 2,990 meters above sea level. Its depth is 167 meters. Rara is spread over an area of 10.8 square kilometers.
