Everest climbing permits start for spring season
Kathmandu: Spring season’s climbing permits have been started for climbing Mount Everest, this year.
According to the Department of Tourism, the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kiranti, has given permission to the team leader of the first group of 15 climbers to climb Mount Everest.
Yubraj Khatiwada, director of the mountain climbing branch of the department, said that the first climbing permit was issued to climb Mount Everest for the spring season.
Khatiwada said, there are 10 men and five women among those who have received permission to climb. They are citizens of Australia, China, Germany, Hungary, Singapore, South Africa, Thailand, and America. He also informed that climbing permits are being issued for various mountains.
So far, 53 people have taken permission to climb mountains other than Everest. Climbers have taken permission to climb Mt Surma Sarovar, Annapurna, Pangri Goldumba, Manaslu, Thorangpik Himal. There are 36 men and 17 women among those who took permission.
Spring season is considered to be a suitable season for climbing mountains including Everest. During this season, a significant number of foreigners come to climb Mount Everest.
