Travel Industry Bounce Back, March with a 78% Revival

Kathmandu: International tourism has seen a significant revival in March 2023, with a total of 99,426 arrivals by air, according to the latest data provided by Nepal Tourism Board. This marks a considerable improvement from the previous year when only 42,006 international tourists arrived during the same period. In 2021, the numbers were even lower, with only 15,254 tourists arriving in the month of March.
The recent data shows that international tourism has witnessed a remarkable recovery, with a revival of 78% compared to 2019. The numbers are an indication that the travel industry is bouncing back after the pandemic-related restrictions that were put in place globally.
India has emerged as the top tourist-generating market, with 25,911 arrivals in March 2023, followed by the United States with 9,557 arrivals, and the United Kingdom with 6,133 arrivals. Other top markets include Germany, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Australia, France, China, and South Korea, respectively.
The data also indicates that the number of departures in March 2023 was 90,114, indicating a positive trend for the tourism industry. The figures suggest that international tourism is slowly returning to its pre-pandemic levels.
With the ongoing vaccination drives and the lifting of travel restrictions in many countries, the travel industry is likely to continue its upward trajectory. This news will be a source of hope for many in the industry and a positive sign for all those who love to travel.
