300 climbers reach Everest base camp
Kathmandu: At least 300 climbers have already reached the Everest base camp on Sunday to climb the Everest summit this spring season according to the Department of Tourism.
Most of the climbers have reached the base camps while some are waiting for climbing permits said the department sources.
The department has already issued climbing permits for 454 climbers from 41 expedition teams.
The rope fixing for this spring season has also been completed says Dawa Sherpa the executive director of Imagine Nepal, the company responsible for rope fixing up to Camp 4.
The increased number of Everest climbers is due to the decreased case of Covid-19 cases after going through two years hibernation period due to the lockdown to prevent the spreading spree of Covid-19.
The expedition operators this season are quite cheerful in seeing the increased number of members both domestic and foreigners for Everest.
