550 mountaineers climb Mt Dhaulagiri in 63 years
Kathmandu: Sixty-three years have passed until May 13 since Mt Dhaulagiri was climbed.
A total of 550 climbers have successfully ascended Mt Dhaulagiri so far. Located at Dhaulagiri rural municipality-4 of Myagdi district at an altitude of 8,167 meters, many climbers arrive to climb Mt Dhaulagiri, the seventh highest mountain in the world, every year.
It was first climbed on May 13, 1960, by Swiss, Austrian, and Nepali mountaineers. According to the Department of Tourism, 550 people including Nepalis and foreigners have successfully climbed Mt Dhaulagiri from 1960-2020.
A total of 37 mountaineers – 25 male and 12 female have taken a permit to climb Mt Dhaulagiri in this season.
