Everest deaths reach 10 and 2 still missing

Kathmandu: Reports trickling in from the Everest base camps say that at least 10 climbers have breathed their last in the Everest region while two climbers are still missing in this spring season 2023.

Chinese climber Xuebin Chen died up on the mountain near the South Summit, while Indian national Suzanne Leopoldina Jesus died in Lukla during medical treatment. An Australian climber died at the Balcony area above 8,000m on Mt Everest, base camp officials reported.

Similarly, an American doctor Jonathon Sugarman died at Camp II another climber Phurba Sherpa died near Camp IV and Moldovan climber Victor Brinza died at the South Cole due to high altitudes.

Likewise, two climbers are reportedly missing. They include deaf and mute Malaysian Hawari Bin Hashim, 33, and Shrinivas Sainis Dattatraya, an Indian Singaporean climber, who went missing from 8,500m on Mt Everest.
