Tamang climbs Europe’s Mt Elbrus 121 times

Kathmandu: Nepal’s mountaineer Chatur Tamang has created an astounding feat by climbing the highest mountain in Europe-Mt Elbrus 121 times. Tamang also expressed his hope to climb this mountain 140 times by next August.

The height of this prominent mountain of Europe is 5,642 meters and Tamang climbed this mountain while guiding other climbers.

He said that climbing Mt Elbrus is more prone to risk than climbing Mt Everest. He also informed that the rate of deaths for climbers on this mountain is more than that of Everest. Tamang has just returned from the Everest ascent. He started his climbing profession in 2012.

Hinting towards the bad impact of climate change and global warming in the world, he said that the amount of snow in mountains is decreasing and white mountains are gradually transforming into black mountains.

Tamang comes from Mapya Dudhkoshi Municipality of Solukhumbu and he has already climbed Mt Manaslu 7 times besides climbing other mountains such as Mt Lhotse, Kanchenjunga, Amadablam, Choyu, and Baruntse.
