Over 500 hotels to be removed from around Fewa Lake in Pokhara
Kathmandu: At least 500 hotels and restaurants located around the Fewa lake in Pokhara are to be removed at the order of Supreme Court (SC).
The SC order said all those 500 hotels and restaurants constructed by encroaching the area around Fewa lake are to be removed immediately by keeping a distance of at least 65 meters from the lake.
The SC order also directed the Pokhara Metropolis to demolish those built structures. The SC mandate has been a major challenge for the tourism operators as they have been operating their tourism business so far by locating themselves in the same area of Fewa lake and now they have to shift to new surroundings.
