Nima Rinji Sherpa becomes youngest to ascend Mt Gasherbrum I
Kathmandu: Nepali climber Nima Rinji Sherpa has created another world record for ascending Mt Gasherbrum I (8080 m) in Karakoram range, and became the world’s youngest climber ever to climb 8080meter high Mt Gasherbrum.
Sherpa is reported to have climbed the Mt Gasherbrum at around 5 am Pakistan time on 18 July 2023 along with his climbing partners including Pasang Nurbu Sherpa, Krishtin Hailla Tenzing Sherpa and other 9 members from the Seven summit treks and 14 Peaks Expedition.
Sherpa’s achievements in series are as follows:
- Nima Rinji Sherpa climbed Mt Gasherbrum I (8080m) at the age of 17 years and 90 days thereby creating the new world record of becoming the youngest ever to climb this mountain.
- Nima also climbed Mt Nanga on the 26th June 2023 to become the youngest climber to do so at the age of 17 years, 68 days.
- Nima has also created the world record as the youngest climber to climb Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse at the youngest age at the age of 17 years and 35 days on May 24, 2023.
- Nima has also record of being the youngest ever climber to ascend the Mt Manaslu (8165m) at the age of 16 years in the autumn of 2022.
