CAAN allows flights beyond operation hours

Kathmandu: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has allowed flights in rural areas beyond operational hours.

The CAAN decision to this effects comes in the wake of submission of a note by the pilot-in-command and dispatcher, ensuring favourable Visual Meteorological Conditions ‘VMC Minima’ of the destination airport.

Likewise, the CAAN has also allowed flights at Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) airports if the pilot feels confident after ensuring the ‘VMC visibility and distance from cloud minima’ for each flight as in Civil Aviation Requirements for Rules of the Air (CAR 2).
