Dawa completes climb over 13 peaks
Kathmandu:Dawa Yangzum Sherpa has successfuly climbed Cho Oyu to become the first Nepali woman climber to climb most of the peaks above 8000m according to Mingma Sherpa, managing director of Climbalaya Expeditions.
By this climb she has completed her 13th peaks above 8000m. Dawa Yangzum is the first Asian woman IFMGA/HIAGM mountain guide on her mission to complete her summit of all 14 peaks above 8000m.
Dawa recently climbed three peaks in Pakistan in 16 days – G1 on July 21, G2 on July 17 and Nanga Parbat on July 5 – completing her 12th 8000er.
Similarly, two American woman climbers have also successfully scaled Mt Cho Oyu from the Tibetan side completing their 13th 8000er as they wanted to be first American woman to complete all 14 peaks above 8,000m.
