Pokhara set to host int’l mountain cross-country champanionship

Kathmandu: Pokhara is all set to host the Nepal-China International Mountain Cross-country Championship on November 25, 2023. 

A total of 10 teams representing 600 athletes from China and Nepal will be participating in the event of the championship with the main theme, ‘Race for Common Prosperity’ with an objective to promote the tourism of Pokhara Lake City according to the organizers.

The Embassy of China, the Pokhara Metropolitan City and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Yunan Mountaineering and Outdoor Sports Association, and the Hotel Association Pokhara are the co-organizers.

The athletes from China are arriving in Pokhara via chartered planes on November 23. The winners from among the contenders will be decided after completing a distance of 40 kilometers including running, cycling, and boat races.

The championship will award a cash prize of Rs 360,000 for the winning team, the second position holder will receive Rs 288,000, the second runner-up Rs 216,000, and the third runner-up Rs 144,000.
