NMA’s role to promot 27 peaks extended
Kathmandu: The Nepal government has extended the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) role to manage and promote 27 peaks for another five years.
The cabinet meeting of the council of ministers held last month officially approved and renewed the NMA’s right to oversee the 27 mountains including the management and promotion of mountain tourism.
The NMA has been overseeing the promotion and management of the 27 peaks since 1918 including collecting royalties for these peaks. A few of these peaks include Chulu East (6,584 m), Hiunchuli (6,434 m), Mera Peaks (6,470 m), and Lobuche (6,090 m) among others.
