Nepal Tourism Board Wins Big at Guangzhou International Travel Fair

The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has secured a significant win at the recently concluded Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) held in Guangzhou, China, from May 3rd to 5th. The board was awarded the prestigious “Most Popular Cultural Tourism Destination Award” in recognition of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and unique tourist attractions.

This year’s participation marked Nepal’s return to the GITF after a hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The delegation comprised representatives from the NTB, the Pata Nepal Chapter, and seven travel agencies and hotels.

Saroj Bhattarai, Acting Consul General of Nepal for Guangzhou, graced the opening ceremony. During the event, NTB officer Kundan Sharma delivered a presentation highlighting the vast tourism potential Nepal offers.

The NTB is optimistic that this participation will significantly boost Nepal’s tourism promotion efforts, particularly considering China’s position as a major source market for tourists.

Nepal’s presence at the GITF proved to be a resounding success. Beyond the NTB’s award, the Pata Nepal Chapter received both the “Overall Performance Award” from the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute (COTRI) and the “Best Partner Award” from the GITF itself. Additionally, Jugal Holidays, a participating Nepali company, was presented with the “Gold Award for Product Innovation.”
