Direct flights from Pokhara to Dhaka demanded
Various tourism operators including the representatives of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), Gandaki chapter, Biman Bangladesh, and Pokhara-based tourism entrepreneurs in a discussion opined that direct flights from Pokhara to various cities in Nepal, Bangladesh, and different parts of India should be carried out in course of time to revive the ailing tourism industry in the country.
Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council remarked that since the regional international airport in Pokhara is about to operate soon, direct flights should be operated for Dhaka and other foreign countries. He also added that if Nepal can bring only ten percent of the passengers from Bangladesh, the tourism sector in Nepal will be promoted substantially.
The country manager of Bimal Bangladesh Asisur Rehman said that the direct flights between Dhaka and Pokhara will be effective as soon as the regional international airport comes into operation in Pokhara.
He also added that many Bangladeshi people would like to visit Nepal for its natural beauty. However, there is only one daily flight from Dhaka to Kathmandu at present.
The tourism intrapreneurs also laid stress on the need to bringing redress to the Covid-19 ridden tourism industry by focussing on the delivery of inoculations against this deadly contagion to revive the tourism sector.
