Lamjung tourist village looks deserted

Lamjung. Dozens of homestays in the district look deserted for a long time. In the past, the number of tourists visiting the area has been around 100 to 200 per day.

Model Ghalegaun, Kaulepani, Siurung, Rainas, Bhalamchaur, Bhusme, Naruwal and other houses have hardly been visited by 10/15 people since April 30.

According to the organizers, the number of tourist arrivals has decreased due to the local level election and hailstorm. Before the election, 150 to 200 tourists used to visit Ghalegaun Gharwas in Kwalasothar rural municipality-3.

Director Dirgha Ghale said that only 30/40 people have come since then. He said, “Tourists have stopped coming again as the tourism sector in Corona is slowly recovering. Income has stopped due to the non-arrival of tourists. ”

Homestay owners are worried about the rains. “Since the onset of monsoon tourists are unlikely to come, income has stopped, and there is a problem in running the house,” said Kashi Gurung, the house manager.

There are currently 37 houses in operation in the area, operating since 2057 BS. Ghalegaon is at an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level. It is the birthplace of the indigenous Gurungs and the last village ruled by the Ghale King.
