Mountain climbing brings double revenue
Kathmandu: Mountaineering has generated double revenue for the government this year according to the department of tourism.
The Department of Tourism said the total revenue worth Rs 93 million was collected from the permits issued for mountain climbing in this fall season. In the previous year, the revenue collection was recorded at Rs 40.6 million in the same year.
The revenue was collected from 48 mountain climbing permits. The mountain permits are allowed in the months of March, April, and May for the spring season and in the months of September, October, and November for the autumn season.
Mt Manaslu attracted the highest number of climbers. A total of 404 people from 38 groups took permission to climb Manaslu. Of them, 307 were men and seven were women.
Similarly, Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Himalung, Mt Dhaulagiri, and Mt Everest expeditions also garnered government revenue.
